[Elaine is still spirit walking, not yet quite ready to risk going back into her body.]

Mm. [She clears her throat, and forces herself to look straight at the camera.] I don't usually get that scared or desperate. [This is important to her; she's only twelve, after all, and the opinion of her peers and friends matters a lot. Like any kid and teen, she cares very much about what people think of her.] I think it wasn't just the atmosphere of the place, but maybe the Mansion actually got into our heads and fed us fear.

There was a time I was kidnapped for a few hours, before I came here. And I could have sworn that I would die of fear. I was so scared. And then I realized that it wasn't my fear that I was feeling, but my captor's. I guess it was strong enough that I could read his head without meaning to. And during the event, being around all that fear, I... just couldn't take it. [I just wasn't strong enough. What was Lucifer thinking, giving me this power... I don't know what to do with it, don't know how to live with it.]

[I wish he was here...]

[She's already waiting, having gone down straight through the floors. Spirit walking has its perks. She gives him a smile.] Hi.

[Ganta blinks in surprise. He's never seen her in her spirit form before, except on that video and he was a little...distracted at the time.] Hi.

Um...is your body still...? [Broken.]

Yeah. I'd rather wait for it to heal before I try anything. [What an odd conversation.] It's in good hands, anyway. [It still bothers her slightly to be calling her body "it" but then, what else could she call it? She opens the doors.]

It's so easy to get used to this place, that I tend to stop appreciating it eventually. I didn't realize how constricting the Mansion is, until that event.

[It is an odd conversation, but as long as she isn't upset or worried, he'll put his concern aside.]

That one was pretty bad. [He follows her outside, tugging the doors shut behind them and then pulling his sleeves down over his hands.]

I probably just caught a cold or something. [He changes the subject quickly.] Um, what was it you wanted to talk about?

Oh. [Walking through the gardens now, and she kicks at some dead leaves and grass.] Don't get mad, okay?

[Being told not to get mad right off the bat is a little disconcerting.] About you almost killing yourself trying to get out?

Well... that, and other things. It was the event. [She shakes her head.] No, it was also me. But, I never would have, if it wasn't for the event.

[He was honestly upset at her for endangering herself that way, once he stopped being so worried, but he'd be a hypocrite if he chewed her out about it. Especially after the things he'd done, both at home and here, during the event.

He rubs at his neck, not used to it being exposed.] You're not the only one who screwed up because of the event.

We were all distraught, Elaine.

[Lamb didn't see Elaine during the event and has no idea about her power, so she doesn't know what to make of her new appearance.]

Did anything happen to you? Are you all right?

I suppose. [Elaine breathes a light sigh.] I did a lot of damage to my body, during the event. When I tried to escape. So I'm spirit walking for now, just while my body heals.

Do you require any help? I was told that there is a surgeon on the fourth floor, perhaps he could assist you?

[Granted, the girl is apparently fine being completely separated from her body, so Lamb is guessing that this might be more small talk than anything else.]

He's already patched me up a bit. I'm just waiting for the healing to finish up.

I was told of insect wings, of aging, I... thought of it as laughable magic tricks, perhaps I did not even believe it to be true, but..

[It's hard to say if she's speaking more quietly or just turning from the device or if maybe there's a transmission problem; in any case, her voice is briefly not intelligible until]

...this? Why would anybody do that to the people here?

I wish I knew. [Elaine pauses.] To tell you the truth... I've never even seen the Queen myself. I don't know how many people here actually have. Maybe this place just exists; it might not have any sort of purpose at all, and maybe all these events are just sympotoms of something else. Like the Mansion eating our memories. The longer we're living here, the more we lose, until eventually it spits us out when we're not needed anymore. Morals and ethics... don't even factor in.
