I think this is the longest I've gone without sleeping.

[She holds a hand to her forehead, but she sounds awake and alert. A small origami book is on the desk in front of her. Covering her floor are several hundred origami paper cranes.]

I don't like this event so much. [She finishes the final fold on a crane, puts it aside, and smiles furtively.] Five hundred and seventeen.

[She wants to reply to his snide comment, but decides to wait until they're face to face, at least. Sitting on the edge of the roof, her legs dangling over the side, she waits for him.]

[He arrives seconds later, wings backbeating the air a few feet away from her before he settles on the roof. His wings disappear immediately, no longer necessary. He makes no move to sit, opting instead to stand, as he slips his hands into his trouser pockets.]
